After their exploits in the Confederations Cup, the seleção were back on the field, this time in Europe in a friendly against Switzerland in Basel. Its fair to say that the Swiss are no pushovers when it comes to football and they proved that they are top of their World Cup qualifying group for a reason by beating Brazil 1-0 last night.

Brazilfooty sent one of its correspondents to the match. However, we are yet to receive the match report. The correspondent is Swiss and may be nursing a hangover this morning. Dani Alves scored a silly own goal early in the second half after a first half in which Brazil hit the post through a Paulinho header and Neymar had a penalty appeal turned down. When asked about the penalty incident, Brazilfooty correspondent Danny R. sent a message by text saying that Neymar was a “pussy”. Perhaps.

Anyway, I don’t think we can learn too much from this game. Brazil lost against England in London earlier this year remember. They almost lost to Russia in London too. They are not good travellers at the moment (their home form is a lot better which is what counts at the moment) and friendly matches in which there is very little preparation time is not very meaningful. The key thing from this match for me, is that I now know how cool Dante is. The man has some style. Check out that shirt and those shoes. Classy. Much better than Neymar. Pfffff….

I didn't realise Dante was so cool. I take my hat off (Mowa Press)

Not as cool as Dante in my opinion (Mowa press)

In case you missed it, this was the squad for that match.

This was the actual lineup last night:

Jefferson, Daniel Alves (Jean), Thiago Silva, Dante and Marcelo (Maxwell); Luiz Gustavo (Fernando), Paulinho and Oscar (Hernanes); Hulk (Lucas), Neymar and Fred (Jí´).

In the league meanwhile, leaders Cruzeiro lost against Gremio 3-1. Botafogo have a chance to move top when they play Internacional at home tonight. Third placed Coritiba drew at home with Portuguesa, while fourth placed Corinthians could only manage a 0-0 draw with Fluminense in an empty Maracanã. Chicão – the former Corinthians captain – scored on his debut for Flamengo. His free kick earned Flamengo a 1-1 draw away to Goias.
