Libertadores: Amazing Neymar

Neymar: South America's Messi (Getty)

At the same time Messi was scoring five goals for Barcelona in the European Champions League, Neymar was terrorising Inter in the Copa Libertadores, South America’s equivalent competition. Neymar scored three goals in Santos’ 3-1 win. No point in me describing them in words. Take a look at the highlights below:

Elsewhere in last week’s Libertadores:

  • Fluminense beat Boca Juniors in the Bombonera stadium. Fred and ex-Barcelona man Deco scored for Flu.
  • Flamengo scrapped a narrow in against Emelec. Vágner Love scored for them but Ronaldinho was roundly booed by Flamengo fans who are unhappy with his current form.
  • Corinthians beat Nacional (Paraguay) 2-0 with goals from Danilo and Jorge Henrique
  • Vasco narrowly beat Allianza Lima at home 3-2 with another goal from centre back Dedé. Dedé is amazing just in case anybody didn’t already know that! Should be starting for the seleção.

So, let’s hear it for Neymar. Leave a comment.

  1. Wonderkid! He would be the best fit to form the magic square at Guangzhou Evergrande with Conca, Muriqui and Anelka.

  2. Wow! Things are getting quite surreal on here. What next? Dagenham and Redbridge? Levante? Orlando Pirates?

  3. great player hope he stays in brasil and never leaves .. he can get all the world wide glory with the selecao

  4. Messi already is from South America….Neymar is very good player but I prefer Deco, he totally rocks at Fluminense team!
