São Paulo goalkeeper (and legend) Rogério Ceni scored his 100th goal in professional football yesterday. And he scored it in the perfect way: in a derby match against local rivals Corinthians. Ganso wants to quit Santos and play in Europe
Paulo Henrique Ganso has told Santos that he wants to quit the club and move to Europe. Local media say that Inter Milan (coached by a Brazilian, Leonardo) are favourites to sign the 21 year old.
After prolonged contract negotiations, it had seemed, three weeks ago, that Ganso was ready to sign a new deal at Santos. This was widely reported in the local media and this blog. However, while salary was not an issue (Ganso would earn approximately GBP 40k per week versus his current wage of less than a quarter of that), Ganso was not happy with the release clause in the contract and this was the main sticking point. Leandro Damião gets Brazil call-up for Scotland friendly
Leandro Damião has been called up to the Brazil squad for the friendly against Scotland after injury ruled Pato and Nilmar out of the match. The 21 year old received the call from Mano Menezes after some cracking form at Internacional where he has scored 13 goals in his last 9 games (admittedly against some weak opposition in the Gaúcho State Championship). Nonetheless he’s quality and hopefully we’ll see him get out on the pitch and make his debut.
